Laser Eye recovery time
Although Laser Eye Correction surgery is quite fast and you are good to leave after it has been performed there is still recovery time that you need to account for.
You may well notice improvements in your eyes very fast but it is an on-going process of recovery to make sure that they fully heal correctly!
One big point to note is that the type of eye treatment you have will also determine your recovery time, LASIK, CK and Intacs can provide almost instant improvement in vision while PRK, LASEK, and Epi-Lasik can take a few days to weeks for your vision to show improvement!
In most cases people are able to go back to normal routine within a day or two of having laser eye correction surgery but precautions will need to be taken to make sure that your eyes are looked after to help with their recovery. You are likely to have dry eyes and will be required to keep them moist regularly with eye drops. You will also have to not rub your eyes for the first 7 days after the laser eye correction surgery, this may require the wearing of an eye mask or goggle in bed to avoid you doing this. You should also avoid getting anything like soap or shampoo in your eyes while showering and stand with your back to the shower while using it to avoid any water directly hitting your eyes.
You will be able to use the computer and watch television as long as you keep your eyes well lubricated with the eye drops.
Activities such as swimming or going in hot tubs should still be avoided after a week still, although gentle exercise can be started. Only after 3 weeks should swimming or harder exercise be considered but goggles or other eye protection must be worn.
For up to 6 months you should take extra special care of your eyes to make sure that they have the best chance to recover properly after laser eye correction.
The laser eye recovery time may feel quite quick due to the instant visual results many patients get but you just need to be careful to make sure your eyes get as much help to recover properly that is necessary!
